Question 1

Does eating sugar causes diabetes?

No, sugar is not a risk factor for diabetes.

The main risk factor for type 2 diabetes is overweight (especially around the abdomen). Physical inactivity and an unhealthy diet (too much saturated fat and too little dietary fibre) increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. It is a myth that diabetics cannot eat sugar. Like everyone else they can enjoy sugar and sugary products as long as the total diet is balanced and healthy. There is no need to buy sugar-free products for diabetics. They can use sugar but, like everyone else, should do so in moderation.
